Velleman K8090 VM8090 8-Channel USB Relay card allows you to control 8 different relay channels through serial port(COM port). You can turn on/off relays by K8090 VM8090 demo application.

The latest Quick Timer R8X v2.5 supports K8090 VM8090 8-channel USB relay card. It’s very easy to set timer for each relay channel. The relay channels can be controlled not only just turn on or turn off manually, but also turn on/off automatically with loop setting.
Follow the example below, you will see how easy to control K8090 VM8090 with Quick Timer R8X. It will show out great solutions for lights control, science experiments control, home automation control, energy conservation control, all kind of industry control, and so on.
Here is an example to control K8090 with Quick Timer R8X.
Task: during 30 seconds,
- Turn Relay 1 -4 on 2 seconds, and off 3 seconds
- Turn Relay 5-8 on 5 seconds, and off seconds
Here are the steps to set up Quick Timer R8X to control K8090.
1. Connect K8090 with your computer through USB cable.
2. Download and Install Quick Timer R8X software.
3. Launch Quick Timer R8X, set up connection for Quick Timer R8X and K8090.

- Click Configure button to open Configuration panel
- Select Manufacturer –>Velleman
- Select Device Type –> VM8090 K8090
- Select Port Name for connected K8090
Once the connection is set up, you will see the connection information on Quick Timer R8X status bar.
The flashing arrow means the connection is valid. Now, you can control K8090 relay channels with Quick Timer R8X. Each relay channel has a independent control panel. It includes relay channel number, Timer Bar, Auto Control Bar, Auto Control Setting Button, Manual Control Switch, and Relay Status Light.
You can also control all relay channels manually together with Turn All On/Off button. If you have set up auto control setting for all relay channels, click Start All button to control all at the same time.
4. Set auto control timer for Relay 1.
- Click auto control Setting button for Relay 1 to open Relay 1 Setting panel.
- Set up Duration for 30 seconds
- Select Action –>Program
- Check Always Loop
- Click Add button to open Item Setting panel
- Set up Turn On 2 Seconds and Turn Off 3 seconds, keep Loop Count 1
- Click OK button on Item Setting panel back to Relay1 Setting panel
- Click OK button on Relay 1 Setting panel to finish the setting
5. Follow Step 4 to set the same auto control timer for Relay 2-4.
6. Set auto control timer for Relay 5.
- Click auto control Setting button for Relay 5 to open Relay 5 Setting panel.
- Set up Duration for 30 seconds
- Select Action –>Program
- Check Always Loop
- Click Add button to open Item Setting panel
- Set up Turn On 5 Seconds and Turn Off 5 seconds, keep Loop Count 1
- Click OK button on Item Setting panel back to Relay1 Setting panel
- Click OK button on Relay 1 Setting panel to finish the setting
7. Follow Step 6 to set the same auto control timer for Relay 6-8.
8. Click Start All button to run auto control timers for 8 relay channels together. You will see during 30 seconds, Relay 1 -4 on 2 seconds, and off 3 seconds; Relay 5-8 on 5 seconds, and off 5 seconds, just like the video shows below.
